2013 MERRIE MONARCH Music Festival March 31
The Merrie Monarch Ho'olaulea (music festival) was held in Hilo's Civic Auditorium on Easter day. Below are some highlights of the event. Hawaii Community College and Hawaii Island charter school performances The event began with a presentation by Haakumalae Protocols Program, Hawaii Community College, and Hawaii Island Public Charter Schools under the direction of Kumus Kekuhi Kealiikanakaoleohaililani, Dr. Taupouri Tangaro, and Manaiakalani Kalua.

Five HCC dancers performed a hula followed by a Hawaiian chant performed by the HCC group.

Hula Halau Ke Olu Makani O Mauna Loa Under the direction of Kumu Meleana Manuel, dancers from Halau Ke Olu Makani O Mauna Loa performed. 
Halau Na Pua O Uluhaimalama Under the direction of Kumu Emery Aceret, keiki from Halau Na Pua O Uluhaimalama performed.
